It is impossible to get to Similani now without an excursion. You have to go to Phi Phi on your own for a few days, from there you can go further to Krabi, to Koh Lanta, and preferably to Lipa.

I was for one day on Phi Phi (5 islands) with a tour, it cost 1400 baht from the bow on a speedboat To go is definitely worth it - it is very beautiful there. But I don't see the point of going for two days.

We go everywhere ourselves) Just came to krabi, bought tickets at the piers and traveled around the islands. We went to Phang nga, stopped at a fishing village, paid 2k baht for the boat and the family drove for two hours, watched the village on the water, James Bond Island, etc.

Highly recommend for phiphi for at least 3 days. There are many interesting places, beaches and entertainment. If you are without a car, then directly from there you can move by ferry to krabi. Stop at ao nange for a couple of days. the compulsory program is reilly, and another day is emerald pool, hot spring, climbing the mountain temples of tiger cave.
