What are the penalties for traffic violations? Thai media reported that authorities are considering a proposal for a major increase in fines and prison sentences for driving without a license. The Ministry of Transport believes that the current laws have long been outdated and need to be updated. They want to raise the fine to 50 thousand baht (now 500), and the prison term to 3 months (now 30 days). Similar penalties are offered for drivers who have already been temporarily deprived of their rights (now it is only a fine of 2000 baht).
