What are the restrictions on the carriage of fruit in the basket in hand luggage?

It also depends on the size of the carry-on luggage shelves on the plane. Sometimes they're so small that the basket won't fit or under the seat.

I flew out of Bangkok on Saturday, everyone was forced to put them in bags from baskets, I didn't understand what this was connected with.
