They can sting. But only if accidentally stepped in or did not see. It feels like five bees at once. It hurts unpleasantly and for a long time. It may seem like an arm/leg/all at once is being taken away. But then it passes.

I was told that blacks are not dangerous and yellows are dangerous. I've never seen a yellow myself.
