A completely huge suitcase was hammered and checked into the luggage, everyone did not care. Most of all we were worried that in Russia they would get to the bottom when they came out, when suitcases were shining, but everything was calm.

If you mean fruit in a basket - in hand luggage you can take a small one for sure. And so 5 kg per person. Many have a small suitcase and a small basket in their hand luggage - everything is normal. We checked in large baskets in our luggage, but this is already counted as one full-fledged piece of luggage.
