Schengen is done in the country of residence, usually if you have a Russian passport and there is no residence anywhere else, then you go by registration, for example, Moscow Time, St. Petersburg, you file through an agency like vfs global (and there is some more there) - you go to the website, check the docks- collect, pay there 60€ approximately +- and you are waiting for a visa (right now hi sizon probably, so a little longer than the usual 4-5days, although there is a chance that they will give).

I did an Italian Schengen in Bangkok in June. If you have a work visa. They were given exactly for the duration of the trip, although before that they were given for 1 year.

Russian citizens can get Schengen only in Russia.
