The sand of Chaweng is very shallow, the entrance to the water is gentle, it's just not better for kids to find, and adults have a blunder, you just need to go a little further from the shore

Lamai is deeper, the depth begins almost immediately. The sand is large. The coastline is quite short. Just like on Chaweng, the northern part of the beach is not suitable for comfortable swimming. Although there are many beautiful hotels in that part, for example, the Beach Republic Club hotel. So when choosing a hotel, it is better to consider the location south of Jasmine Resort and its neighbor Tai House Beach Resort. Lamai prices differ from Chaweng for the better, this also applies to prices in cafes and the cost of living. It has been very difficult to find a good one at a reasonable price on Chaweng lately, there is more choice on Lamai. On Sundays, at sunset, the main street is blocked and a Sunday fair is held, where traders from all over the island gather. There are a lot of people, beautiful, noisy, fun. At exactly 10 pm, the street empties in a moment. There are several small bazaars on Lamai where you can buy fresh fruit at affordable prices. Also 15-20 minutes from the beach there is a large Tesco Lotus store, where you can also buy fruits and a lot of useful things. There is a good food court there at very low prices

The best beach in my opinion is Lamai. it is necessary to take it to the north closer to the place where the Lamai River flows into the bay. There is not much activity here, but the sand is still pleasant, very clean. Gentle entrance to the water, the optimal time is May-June.
