Is it really possible to swim on Koh Samui (Maenam) in December-January? Are the waves strong? Are there any rip currents?

There are no rip currents at all on Maenam. But the Maenam is big and the coast is different - in places immediately deep, in places gradually. And it's different every day. Sometimes the water is like a mirror, sometimes muddy.
