What is the best way to wait for the next flight in Bangkok? I will arrive and it will be 12 hours before the flight home. is it better to live nearby or to the center by metro? So that there is no expensive taxi to and from the airport.

You can take the Airport Rail Link directly from the airport to Makkasan station - it will take about half an hour and 35 baht. and then take one mrt station to Asoke (or a cab - maximum 70 baht). There's a lot to see and do in that area, so you'll have a lot to do. You could say it's already the center.
