What is the best area in terms of comfort to stay in a hotel for a couple of months? Saw a lot of good options in the Coasan area, but it's too partyy and noisy as far as we're concerned. Maybe there are quieter options downtown?

You can look near the Thompson Museum. Nice neighborhood, close to everything (malls, BTS, old town, Lumpini Park).

I like the area pra khanon, the main thing is that it is not far to the bts, if you do not plan to use a motorcycle cab or drive yourself. But I wouldn't call it the center. But transportation is close by and a lot of decent new condos.
