On May 2nd I arrive in Bangkok (from the UK, if it matters), bought a ticket for the same date, a couple of hours later for a plane to Phuket.

Apparently you did not take a single ticket to Phuket, and the flight of their bkk you have is not PG5xxx. therefore, you will not fly further than Bangkok. at the moment the situation is as follows: in a couple of hours to Phuket - well, no way. minimum - for the next day. you need to get a tiepass under the Test & Go program, pay for pcr at the airport and book a hotel in Bangkok for a day. you can fly on local flights only after a negative test result. if you arrived in the morning, passed the test, at lunch there was a negative result - then you can fly further. otherwise, no way.
