Keep food in the refrigerator and wash dishes immediately after eating... That's the whole recipe - no food - no ants and cockroaches.

Well, seriously there is a bunch of all sorts of poisons of different types of action. There are such boxes of neon-green color, almost every magaz sells, they have poison inside - you put it next to the highway, they eat, take it home - mows down the whole colony.
