The landlord may simply lose your passport. He doesn't seem to bear any responsibility for it. Or the threat of blackmail "will not return your passport until you pay for the damage" can force you to buy a new bike because of a couple of scratches.

This is usual in densely populated areas, and you try to look in another town next door to a small ... There are a couple of thousand baht on bail + a photo of the passport and norms.
