Well, it seems that so much happens, you just need to understand that 20k is payment to the school, 15k goes to immigration for converting your stamp into a visa (if you get it outside of Thailand, you can save money on this item) and 5k x 3 extensions = 50k. That is, in principle, the school can say that the price tag is 20k, you pay - they draw up documents for you, Then you go to a neighboring country at your own expense to the Thai embassy and apply for a visa there, then return and pay 5k for each extension (this is if you are talking about Phuket). In other provinces, an extension can cost an honest 1900.
