I counted the difference between (buy dollars in Moscow and exchange on the spot) - (withdraw from union pay tied to a ruble account and withdraw baht in maximum amounts), the difference came out 4% in favor of $. It's up to you to decide how critical it is for you. There is also the option of buying $ on the exchange and linking the union pay card to the $ account, while I have not counted how much it will come out.

It's better to take dollars with you, and exchange them for baht. UnionPay cards work. We tried to pay everywhere in cash.
