Does it make sense to arrange Unionpay for a trip to Phuket? Or can you take cash bucks the old-fashioned way?

Make out, you never know if the bucks will be lost / stolen.

I will do it, despite the fact that there is a foreign card and we will take cash, just in case, it's just, you never know what, you can transfer to it at least from a Russian card and pay / withdraw.

There is definitely one. It works almost everywhere and cash can be withdrawn without problems at ATMs.
