On Koh Samui, in order to work, you need to get a workpermit, which is difficult and expensive. It is not possible to work officially, but it is very problematic. The rights can be obtained inexpensively in exchange for your rights of the Russian Federation with the same categories, first for 2 years. But the rights have nothing to do with your stay.
