Is it worth it to go by bus from BC to Koh Samui or other islands of the bay? I'm thinking about a night bus or train.

You can sleep on the train. I can't do it on the bus.

Do not forget that then there will be another ferry, and between the train and the ferry there is a connection and transfer. There is no time saving here. It's more of a money saver. The fastest is of course the plane, it flies for about an hour in total.
