We lived in Phuket Town. The option turned out to be very viable. It turns out that our distance was about the same from all the main beaches. 25 minutes by bike to Naiharn, Patong/Karon, Surin. Near the Central shopping center: you can change money at a good rate in the bank. It seems on the 4th floor there are a lot of banks, choose any, changed in purple. In the expensive part of Central there is a good food court. Also the Old Town is nearby, Big Buddha, decoys, etc. are also nearby. In fact, this is all very subjective until you see with your own eyes it is very difficult to make a decision. My opinion on the result: the northern beaches are far from piers, shopping centers, magazes. In the north we liked Naythong and Bang Tao (only in the center), Mai Khao/Nayang not at all. Naiharn and Kata Noi mostly swam there. Karon - always biting plankton, well always... on others no, on Karon always yes... a lot of compatriots, because hotels occupy the first line densely. Surin didn't come in either. Very much a lot of Muslims, for some reason they pour fierce oil into food. I couldn't eat there, it was bad later. If you are not going to drive much along the coast, you can try Kata or Kata Noi. There is a delicious Red Chair, a lot of Italian edalen, massages, in general a lively tourist area. To the right you will go Karon, then Patong, to the left Naiharn But the trick is that if you go along the coast, then from Kata to Naiharn is also 20 minutes and to Patong it is 20-30 minutes ... for traffic....
