Buy your ticket at the time of boarding the ferry. There's not even a ticket, just 30 baht and pass.

Arrives at the pier. Buy a ticket for 30 TB, for a slow ferry. It will take you to the most crowded beach, where you can take a tuk tuk to some beaches, about 40 TB. If you want faster, a spitbot for 150,300,500 TB, depending on which beach you will need. There is no strict schedule. The earlier you eat, the more time you will spend on the beach.
