Make international on the machine. If you want to take a car - the police will not have any questions. By bike - Chalong always stands, check the place - the Chalong Ring is one of the passable routes.

Where will you live? I mean, if in a quiet place like Rawai then you can safely take a motorbike, drive around the area. I have never seen the police here in the last month. And if you need somewhere further take a taxi it is cheap here and no problem.

According to the rules you need international rights with category A for bikes, B for cars. (By international means a separate book, get it in the traffic police of your city) But as a rule, many people drive without them, stumble upon roundups and pay a fine either in ... Ku on the spot. When renting a bike, you will not be asked (in most places) for rights, only a copy of the passport, a deposit and payment.
