If you absolutely need to get there today, then only a plane to Surat Thani, and then hire a private boat for a lot of money, if it works at all — I think 15—20k baht, unless you find like-minded people.

You can still watch the trains, but they seem to be night, mostly. there is a website of Thai railways. There is also an airport in Chumpon, from there there are also ferries to Phangan.
