It seems to fly from Surat Thani to Bangkok is a better idea, money goes the same way as a bus or train, but not to suffer so long on the way.

Yes, for me too.. I tried all 3 options. The bus is a sadomasochist from which they release 1 time in I don't remember how many hours. The train, too, will only fit the case. Of the minuses of Surat - Don Muang, there are too many shifts. And the arrival is usually in Don Muang. And it's not always convenient.
