There are no banks yet, only Bangkok. I made out with minimal insurance (1200bat) at the branch on Lipa Noi, in all the others they asked for insurance for 5k A, in addition to the resident certificate, a letter from the consulate (affidavit) is needed The consulate is located in the W Hotel, you can easily find it in Google maps.

Try to go to a Bangkok bank on Lamai, depending on the branch they have different rules In the festival, they also wanted to force us even with a resident certificate to buy insurance for 7k On Lamai they don't give a card at all without insurance, but they came up with some new one for 1200batt and you pay it once, repeatedly through nothing is debited from the card for a year, in general, it turns out 2447batt for opening an account + card + insurance with 10kbatt coverage.
