Go to any travel agency in Bangkok, buy bus +ferry tickets to Koh Samui from them.

Go to the 12go Asia website. We only use it to move around the tay. We took tickets from Phuket to Koh Samui. It turned out to be much cheaper than negotiating at transport kiosks. The route has a combined transport: bus/ferry.

Bangkok Airlines is definitely the best aircraft. Modern airplanes will take 50 minutes of flight, they will even give you something to eat.

So Koh Samui is an island, there is no way by bus alone.
