In order to eat inexpensively, you first need to get away from the beach. Look for an inconspicuous cafe with some cheap plastic or wooden chairs, an oilcloth on the tables and no air conditioners! If you see what Thais are eating there (just don't confuse it with the Chinese, please), you can join, just don't forget to ask for Mai pat" if you don't eat spicy. Don't be afraid to eat at markets and mobile makashnits (motorbike cafes)
