Thais celebrate the new year twice - the European one on January 1 and their national one for a few days - from April 13 to 15. It's called Songkran and it's a really lavish celebration. In Bangkok, the festival usually begins on April 13.

Bangkok also has a fairly large number of Chinese and they also celebrate their New Year, so you can celebrate the New Year three times in a short period of time)))
