I have a question about extending the stamp-arrival for 7-60 days. I googled and it seems it all depends on the list of documents submitted + the place of filing.

It depends on the officer and his mood. But you can now get a letter from the embassy saying that you can't go home and they will extend it for a month on the letter.

Not everywhere for 7 days, in Samui so far tourists can extend for 60 days without a letter, with a letter from the consul 20+10.
