I am flying to Bangkok, with two transits in India, I will be there for less than 24 hours. Can you tell me if I need an Indian visa?

In Calcutta you probably need a visa, write to the airline better. Don't take any chances.

It depends on your citizenship and the conditions of transit. In India it was with an exit to the city, so you need a visa. But that may not be a problem, as it's often done electronically.
