I had an overstay in March of this year, delayed by 5 days due to flight cancellations. I paid the overstay at the airport. Now flew to bkk a week ago, everything is ok, they didn't ask about it, put it on 45 days.

Overstay 500 baht per day fine. Renew for 7 days for 1900 baht! Cheaper and without consequences.

As far as I know, you can extend for 7 days, I can't answer the second question.
