What license is needed in Thailand? Thailand, like Russia, is a signatory to the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, one of the provisions of which is the recognition of the driving license of countries party to the convention. The Russian license category " A " with subparagraphs (when driving a motorcycle) and " B " (when driving a car) is quite satisfactory to the police. As always there is a Human Factor - some local police do not care about all these conventions, they require International Driver's License, in which case it is worth mentioning the Convention. Also note that if the police officer is stubborn, there is no point in arguing with them. In 99.5% of cases, you don't need a driver's license to rent a bike or car. Lifehack for bikers - riding in a full-face helmet (completely covering the head) will not only reduce the bill in the hospital if you fall, but it also reduces the likelihood of being stopped for a document check by law enforcement.
