It does take a long time to get an appointment. If your passport is already on fire, I suggest you consider filing in other countries. Kuala Lumpur, for example, or Singapore. If in transit, you'll have 96h - easy time to submit.

Applied in October. The window for filing documents appeared in December for the middle of March. Then wait for the passport for 3 months.
