TAT recommends that travelers be sure to check the fine print of any COVID-19 insurance policy before purchasing. Ultimately, the policy should cover the cost of treatment and other medical expenses associated with contracting COVID-19, including hospitalization, isolation in a hospital, isolation at a hotel, or appropriate quarantine. The insurance policy must also cover the entire period during which travelers plan to stay in Thailand, plus at least 10 additional days as a precaution in case the traveler's second PCR test results positive. it's a recommendation.

It's your choice. If you want to take out insurance for a longer period. If you don't want to pay for the quarantine at your own expense.
