In 7/11 and Themille Martha it will not work. These stores don't have real Visa/MCs.

Cool. At 7/11 I was told that they had a not master card, thai purse only, but if you have credit card you may pay/ Which is ridiculous - I slipped them my moment bangkok bank and the payment did not go through - gave out a check with the error Unknown account". I slipped the monobank card (Ukraine) and the payment was made. But my card is on credit."
