This is better solved with airbnb support. The owners take the deposit. But they take it at the entrance and give it at the exit. It is not entirely clear on what grounds he will return it to you from prepayment. Something smells like some kind of divorce for money. It is better to cancel the reservation and not to communicate with this owner. Well, write a complaint to airbnb.
