Hello! Tell me, what is the blackest trip on a rented bike outside of Phuket? We want to drive Khao Lak for a couple of days on our own. The Thai man who handed over the bike said "police stop, money pay." What is the scale of a possible disaster and for what exactly?)

Rode a bike on Samui and in Krabi. The police at the posts don't pay attention to the word at all, but I was advised to bring a copy of the greenbook with me just in case.

At a minimum, if the host is against leaving, it will deprive you of your deposit. As a maximum in any case, all expenses will fall on you. And leaving the island without the knowledge of the owner is considered theft!
