Make a TR in advance for 90 days, fly on it and make a student visa - done around a month and a half on a turnkey basis - about 45k baht per year.

The easiest way to apply for a student visa. perhaps in your case it will be easier and more convenient to make sure that the children (I suspect that you have them - since the family is 4 people) study at a local school and on the basis of this make a visa for them and you as parents.
